Bull Shoals is in conservation pool.  During the weekend the corps is taking it easy on generation but as you can see during the week the corps is generating 2 spurts during the day lately.  Fishing is great and nice wading when the corps of engineers isn't generating a ton.  Streamer fishing is great currently even during generation.

The Norfork is under flood stage too.  During the weekend like the White River the corps of engineers is taking it easy on the generation.  During the week they have been generating a few hours in the morning and a few hours in the afterno…

The Norfork is under flood stage too.  During the weekend like the White River the corps of engineers is taking it easy on the generation.  During the week they have been generating a few hours in the morning and a few hours in the afternoon.  Lots of fishing opportunities at the Norfork.

The Little Red River is still in flood control.  It will be this way for around another week at this rate.  The corps of engineers is generating 24 hours a day and have flood gates open.  The lake is currently dropping around 6 inches…

The Little Red River is still in flood control.  It will be this way for around another week at this rate.  The corps of engineers is generating 24 hours a day and have flood gates open.  The lake is currently dropping around 6 inches every day and under 3.5 feet over flood pool.  It is very close to being back to its old self.

Little Red River Update 3/13/18

The corps is running 2 units 24 hours per day with 3 flood gates open 1 foot.  The lake is lowering quickly and will be back to normal level much faster.  The lake is currently 7 feet over conservation pool.  As of right now the lake is coming down about 6 inches per day.  Right now it is showing a date of March 26.  We will keep you updated.

River updates 3-8-18

All 3 rivers (The White at Bull Shoals, The Norfork and The Little Red) are doing very different generation schedules at the moment. We will look at all 3 and tell you about each.

First the White River is generating 24 hours a day but getting rid of it's flood pool in a hurry.  The lake will probably be back to normal in a week or so.  High water means nice streamer fishing on the White!  Don't miss out on it.

Next the Norfork River is not running much water at all and staying slightly under flood control.  A few days this week the corp rain water for 4 hours, 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening.  This has been the most stable river of our 3 main rivers.  Wading possibilities as well as boating are in good shape.

Finally the Little Red River.  The corp has been running water from 12 hours a day up to 14 hours per day.  There are some opportunities for wading but since the schedule is changing daily its hard to predict.  Greers Ferry is currently less than 8 feet over flood stage.  The water is starting to come down in the lake but I expect generation for weeks to come.  Fishing from a boat or using a professional guide would make your trip much more successful no matter what the corp is doing.  Call our Heber Springs location at (501)362-3597 to reserve your spot!

As always we will keep you updated with any changes!

River updates 3/1/18

Well we just finished one of the wettest February in recorded history.  Our rivers/lakes held up relatively well.  The rivers will be very muddy for a little while and the corp cannot release much water currently because of flooding in the central and southern parts of the state.  Here is a brief rundown of where we are currently with the White at Bull Shoals, The Norfork River and The Little Red.

The White River at Bull Shoals is doing well.  Just a little over 2 feet over power pool.  The river will be muddy but the closer you get to the dam the better the clarity will be.  Not releasing much water currently but will in the future.  When the corp does release the water the streamer fishing will get even better.

The Norfork River is in the best shape of all 3 of our main rivers.  It is currently under power pool.  Probably muddy with the rain but still going to be in good shape.  The Norfork Lake is still under power pool and not generating any water.  This will be the easiest most reliable wading currently.

The Little Red got more rain than the White and the Norfork.  About 2 times the amount of rainfall.  Still it is in ok shape.  It is incredibly muddy currently.  The corp is not releasing much water currently because of the flooding further down stream.  The Little Red will have periods of low water on the top half of the river until the corp is allowed to start generating.  Not sure what the generation schedule will look like in the future but for the next few days to weeks I expect not a ton of generation.

As always we will keep you updated!

River updates 2/25

The weather was not kind to Arkansas last week.  The Norfork River and White River at Bull Shoals are still in really good shape.  Northern Arkansas received 5 inches of rain or less.  The two rivers are going to be off color for the next several days.

The Norfork River will clear first with any water generated from the corp.  The Norfork River as of right now is still almost 4 feet under power pool!!!  It is still rising and will continue over the next few days but I think it will stay in great shape.

The White River at Bull Shoals received around half the rain that The Little Red did.  The White River at Bull Shoals is currently a few inches under power pool.  It will go over on Sunday but not by a great deal.  Not a big concern.  Probably a few days to a week of running water will put it back under power pool.  It will need the generation as well to clear muddy water from this rain system.  With the running of some water will really help streamer fishing on the White which is a good thing.

The Little Red River received around 10 inches of rain this past week.  What is helping is Greers Ferry was 5 feet under flood stage before the rain hit.  It is now currently 5 feet over flood stage.  The River is very muddy currently and the best fishing will be closer to the dam where the water is clear.  They are running some water which is great.  This will help clear the river and help the lake not continue to rise as fast.  Those that love streamer fishing will have their opportunities on the Little Red for several weeks!!!

As always we are here to keep you informed!
