Snow in late March

by Chad on Mar 20, 2010 at 12:21 PM Filed in
As I look outside it is hard to believe that Oklahoma is getting tons of snow.  Currently we are at 60 degrees and a partly cloudy sky.  Snow is expected in Arkansas tonight.  The fishing and the weather have been so good this week.  I hope this storm moves quickly and does not dump a ton of rain on us.  Keep your fingers crossed.  The good news is the Little Red River, the Norfork River and the White are all off this entire weekend.  I do not know the last time this happened on our rivers.  Go fly fishing in Arkansas.

Spring is in the air on the Little Red River.

It is time to go fishing.  In Arkansas we have been waiting a LONG time for this opportunity.  The weather is perfect and the days are longer.  The caddis have started coming off and this warm weather is only going to help with these hatches.  Expect to see them come off starting from cow shoals to Ramsey's.  We do not have tons of opportunities to fish dry flies but this is definitely one of them.  This is a wonderful time to see some wildlife too.  This is one of my favorite times of the year in Arkansas.  If you can tolerate 70 degree days and plenty of sunshine this is for you.
